IBM is partnered with both RedHat and SuSE.  Maybe even SuSE to a larger
degree than RedHat.  However, the more cynical will say that IBM is not
really partnered with either and that IBM is on its own course of 
embracing Linux in order to coopt it and eventually have their own 
commercialized version to make lots of $$.  It seems to me that Linux was
the logical best choice for IBM's future course.
