Absolutely. There will still be room for profitable business, but this 
whole economic sector will be radically different than it has been. 
There will be far fewer "product sectors" that can be 
corporation-dominated.  Things like anti-virus tools might still be 
capital-intensive, but everything from office suites to tool-building 
tools is going to have open source competition.

I agree that it's for the good. What's going to happen is that the 
emphasis of companies will shift to services and leveraging of that 
software base, and that just might leave a few old-line companies in the 
bread line.
